Sarbari got her training from her mother Smt. Minoti Mukherjee. She then learnt khayal & Bhajan from Pdt. Arun Bhaduri and Thumri/kajri/dadra from Girija Devi at the Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata, India. She got trained in Dhrupad from Pdt. Arun Bhattacharya & Smt. Kaberi Kar in Kolkata, India. Sarbari had received her talim in voice training lessons/Alaap/Dhrupad from Ustad Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar in the Guru-Shishya Parampara style in Delhi, india. She also has training in Tabla from Pdt. Samir Chatterjee in Kolkata, India.

  • Shrimati Minoti Mukherjee

    Smt. Minoti Mukherjee is the daughter of well known Classical/Semi classical singer Pdt. Santosh Kumar Banerjee, who was a zaminder of Cuttack, Orissa. She is a student of noted Rabindra Sangeet exponent Shri Chinmoy Chatterjee and also got her training in 'adhunik' songs from the renowned singer Shri Jotileshyor Mukhopadhyay. Sarbari got her initial training in music from her mother.

  • Pandit Arun Bhaduri

    Pandit Arun Bhaduri is a legend on his own right, a doyen of Hindustani Classical Music who has created a unique style of singing based on Kirana Gharana. Bhaduri's understanding of Bengal's musical tradition represents the combined efforts of numerous teachers from whom he learned like Md. A. Daud, Md. Sagiruddin Khan and the late Ustad Ishtiaq Hussain Khan. He later studied light and classical Indian music with Padmashree Pandit Jnan Prakash Ghosh. Pandit Arun Bhaduri has devoted much of his energy to passing his knowledge on. He serves as guru (teacher) at ITC Sangeet Research Academy.

  • Shrimati Girija Devi

    Born in 1929 in Varanasi, Shrimati Girija Devi is among the illustrious figures in Indian music. She is an outstanding exponent of Thumri, Tappa, Hori, Chaiti, Kajri, Tarana, Sadra, Khayal and other forms of Hindustani music. Groomed in the tradition of the Benaras and Seniya gharanas, she has an extensive repertoire of rare traditional brandishes. She received her vocal music training from the exponents of classical music like Shri Sarju Prasad Mishra and Shri Chand Mishra. For her outstanding musicianship she has received some of the highest awards which includes the Padma Shri (1972), the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1977), and the Padma Bhushan (1989). For her contribution to Hindustani vocal music, Shrimati Girija Devi is elected Fellow of Sangeet Natak Akademi. Girija devi has died in 24 October 2017.

    Pdt. Arun Bhattacharya is a well known Professor of Dhrupad in Rabindra Bharati University. He came from a family with long lineage in music. His father was noted Dhrupad singer Pdt. Uday Bhushan Bhattacharya. Pdt. Arun Bhattacharya is an acclaimed performer.

  • Shrimati Kaberi Kar

    Prof. Kaberi Kar was born in Kolkata in 1957. She had the priviledge of training under one of the leading Dhrupad Maestro padmabhusan Ustad Rahim Fahimuddin Khan Dagar. In early childhood she also trained herself in Kheyal of the famous patiyala gharana from Smt Meera Bandopadhaya. From 1976 Kaberi Kar has been a regular artist Of All India Radio for both Dhrupad and Kheyal form of Hindustani Classical Music. Kaberi was attached to Rabindrabharati University as an Adhyapika. Now She is Professor of Sangeet Bhavana Visva-bharati with whom She has been associated since 1986. Achievements in the field of education : B.A in Music (gold medalist). Topped in the Rabindra Bharati University in 1971 and M.A in music with first class first from Rabindra Bharati University in 1976. She also hold the National Scholarship in Hindustani classical Music from Ministry of Education in 1978. Awarded Ph.D from Visva-bharati University

  • Ustad Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar

    Ustad Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar born on the 15th April in the year 1969 at New Delhi is an Indian classical singer of the dhrupad genre and the son of dhrupad singer Ustad Nasir Faiyazuddin Dagar. He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2010. Wasifuddin Dagar today considered as the maestro of Dhrupad singers in India. Ustad Faiyaz Wasifuddin Dagar has represented the 20th generation of dhrupad singers of the Dagar Family and therefore a descendant of the legendary Swami Haridas Dagar, Tansen's teacher. His talent for music was nurtured by the exponents of dhrupad singers in the family like Padma Bhushan, Ustad Rahimuddin Khan Dagar, Ustad Rahimuddin Khan Dagar has been his Chacha Sahe, Ustad. N. Aminuddin Dagar his father's elder brother, to name a few.Apart from many Indian music companies, he has also recorded for an American film on World Devotional Music. He has performed for the U.N.E.S.C.O. during his concert tour to Europe in the year 1998. In the year 2000, he has bagged the honour of being first Dhrupadiya to tour North America.

  • Samir Chatterjee

    Samir Chatterjee is one of India's leading tabla players. Born into a musical family in Calcutta, he began his studies early with Pandit Bankim Ghosh, Pandit Balaram Mukherjee, Pandit Rathin Djar, and Mohammad Salim. His later formation as a musician occurred under the guidance of Pandit Amalesh Chatterjee and Pandit Shyamal Bose. All of Samir's teachers have been from the Farrukhabad Gharana school of tabla which he now represents. Since 1982, he has toured extensively in the United States and Canada, in Western and Eastern Europe, North Africa and Asia. Samir has worked with Pt. Ravi Shankar, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. Nikhil Banerjee, Pt. V.G. Jog, Pt. Dr. L Subrhamaniam , Ud. Salamat Ali Khan, Smt. Lakshmi Shankar, Smt. Girija Devi and many others. Samir presently lives in New York where he has become a catalyst in the fusion of Indian and Western music, performing with Pauline Oliveros, Ravi Coltrane, Steve Gorn, Glen Velez, Bobby Sanabria, Ben Verdery, the Dance Theatre of Harlem, the Ethos Percussion Group and many others. Samir has been teaching for 24 years, and many of his students are now established performers. He is the founder/director of CHHANDAYAN, an organization dedicated to promoting and preserving Indian music and culture. Samir makes regular contributions as a journalist and musicologist.
